



Missions
The PSC1 training enables anyone to acquire the skills needed to perform a civic assistance action by carrying out basic first aid. This PSC1 training will teach you how to respond to everyday situations: fainting, trauma, loss of consciousness, cardiac arrest, etc. Throughout the session, you will alternate between theoretical exchanges, practical learning and scenario-based exercises.
This initial training can be complemented each year with a refresher course as part of continuing education.
Anyone who wants to know first aid gestures can complete the PSC1 training and receive the PSC1 diploma or training certificate. This diploma requires no prerequisites and is open to all those aged at least 10 who want to learn first aid. A certificate of competence is awarded, in accordance with the order of 16 November 2011, to those who have actively participated in the entire session. This certificate is recognised by the State services.
Pré-requis
There are no prerequisites for the PSC1 training; no prior knowledge is required. From the age of 10, anyone can take this training.
A valid national identity card is required.

Skills and aptitudes
The teaching unit "Civic Prevention and First Aid Level 1" aims to provide the skills needed to perform a civic assistance action by carrying out basic first aid gestures, in accordance with current regulations. This training introduces citizens to basic first aid. It is delivered using an internal training and certification framework established by the sports department and the national first aid teaching team of the Ministry of Sport.
To obtain a certificate of competence, the trained person must be able to perform a civic assistance action using basic first aid gestures. In particular, they must be able to:
• Ensure appropriate and continuous immediate protection for themselves, the victim and others from surrounding hazards
• Ensure that the alert is transmitted to the most appropriate service
• Immediately perform first aid gestures for a person:
- Victim of airway obstruction
- Victim of severe bleeding
- Unconscious but breathing
- In cardiac arrest
- Victim of a sudden illness
- Victim of trauma
Career outcomes
The certificate is strongly recommended for certain activities: childcare professionals, home care workers, sociocultural animation, sports associations.
